Is a Graduate Diploma the same as a Degree or a Diploma?

The Graduate Diploma is a “post graduate” level course.  It is higher than a Degree according to the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF).  A Degree is Level 7 and the Graduate Diploma is Level 8.

At the Graduate Diploma level, you are studying at the same level of the first half of a Masters Degree which is Level 9.

The entry criteria for a Graduate Diploma is a Degree or a lower level qualification combined with extensive experience. In some cases, the amount of industry experience is so comprehensive it can be assessed as the equivalent of a relevant qualification. It is not possible to enrol directly to a post graduate course without meeting the criteria above.
