ACCOMMODATION

Your success at Adelaide Institute of Technology is partly dependent on secure and comfortable accommodation that is well located and managed. Our dedicated accommodation representative is available to assist you with arranging accommodation and support with any issues during your stay. Several types of accommodation are available including home stay, Student Residences, Student Apartments, Private Accommodation.

A fee of $A200 applies if you require the Institute to organize accommodation.

Home Stay

Home stay is the name used for accommodation with an Australian family in their home. You will live with the host family and benefit from learning about Australian culture and everyday English language. Most host families have experience in hosting international students and are required to follow Adelaide Institute of Technology guidelines as well as a Police Check. Students under 18 years of age on arrival are required to stay in approved Home stay accommodation until they reach 18 years of age unless they have made arrangements to stay with either their parents or a guardian approved by parents and the Australian Government.

Features of Home stay accommodation include:

  • Approved family environment
  • Located within 30 minutes of the campus and walking distance from public transport
  • Private bedroom including bed, study desk, wardrobe, power
  • Shared bathroom and laundry facilities
  • Bed linen, pillows, blankets, towels
  • Healthy and nutritious breakfast and evening meal during term weeks and breakfast, lunch and evening meal on weekends and holidays
  • Negotiated use of telephone and internet and kitchen appliances (charges may apply)
  • All inclusive accommodation, meals and laundry cost of $200 per week in 2009 (excludes transport, internet and telephone)

Student Apartments

Adelaide Institute of Business and Technology is located close to several student apartment complexes. These apartments are only available to students and are usually offered in single, twin share or double accommodation on a minimum 12 month lease. Most apartments are furnished and include separate bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, heating and cooling. Weekly rental varies from $A175 to $A260 and excludes utility charges, cleaning and laundry. This accommodation is only available to students over 18 years of age.

Other Accommodation

A range of private accommodation including apartments and houses are normally available within 30 minutes of the campus through either private landlords or real estate agents or on a share basis with other students. Students and parents may seek advice from Adelaide Institute of Business and Technology prior to entering into private accommodation arrangements. This accommodation is only available to students over 18 years of age.

Accommodation organised through the Institute attracts an accommodation placement fee of $A200 which includes transfer from the airport to the accommodation on first arrival in Adelaide.
